Anj Lum has nearly 30 years of first hand experience in the medical field. Growing up in a household of acupuncturists and Chinese herbalists, she has working knowledge of merging Western and Chinese medicine to help her patients achieve their health care goals in the most effective and quickest way possible. Her compassionate nature puts her patients at ease and her ultimate mission is to help educate her patients so that they can avoid disease and speed up their recovery time.
Anj first earned her Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois, majoring in Chemistry, Biology and Psychology. Immediately after graduation she continued her studies and completed her Bachelors of Nursing, again from the University of Illinois. She spent 16 years in Critical Care nursing and Cardiology. She has co-authored several research articles and has participated in several dozen clinical research trials related to cardiology and pharmaceuticals.
Anj later returned to school and graduated Magna cum laude with a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the prestigious Pacific College of Oriental Medicine - Chicago Campus. This four-year program included 3541 hours of actual classroom hours and clinical hours. The degree included training in acupuncture, auriculotherapy, moxibustion, cupping, tui na, Chinese herbology, electrical stimulation, nutritional therapy, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and orthopedics. Anj is licensed by the State of Illinois and is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Anj continues to enhance her acupuncture and herbal knowledge through advanced education seminars, and training in homeopathy and nutritional counseling. In 2006, she earned advanced certification in Traditional Chinese Medicine Massage and Acupuncture in Beijing Tongren Hospital, Beijing, China. In addition, she is a certified practitioner of Facial Rejuvenation ™and Cosmetic Acupuncture, Mei Zen ™.
Anj is an active member of the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ILAAOM), Asian American Acupuncture Association (AAAA), American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), and supports health care referendums to make healthcare accessible to all.
In her free time, Anj enjoys time reading, learning piano, martial arts and spending time with her 2 children.

The vision of Shiu Healing Touch Acupuncture is to create a healthy partnership in a caring environment where every patient is treated as a unique individual. Where we don’t merely treat symptoms and put a band aid on the problem. Instead we look for the cause and that is what we seek to treat. To achieve optimum health by educating each patient about the body's innate healing capacity utilizing acupuncture, Chinese herbology, homeopathy and nutritional counseling.
