ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE

Assessing Your Body's Health Status At The Cellular Level

The Avatar Technology is a non-invasive, in-office, biofeedback tool utilizing acupuncture points to discover patterns of energetic imbalances in the body. This tool allows you and your practitioner to help pinpoint the causes of your symptoms, formulate a treatment plan and to give you feedback as to the changes within your body, at the cellular level. This computerized testing can be used in conjunction with conventional methods of healthcare in the whole evaluation and treatment of a patient.

What is Electro Acupuncture?

Over 3000 years ago the Chinese recognized there was an energy flow in the body. They called this energy flow "chi" and they've shown that it actually controls the function of each organ. In order for your body to function at optimal levels, you need to have the proper amount of energy flowing through your meridians. As a person moves away from health, or you eat foods you're intolerant or sensitive to, that energy level is one of the first things to be affected.

Pioneered by German physician Reinhold Voll, M.D. in 1953, Dr. Voll found a way to measure the chi by using the acupuncture meridians. Thus the name, Electro Acupuncture by Voll, EAV, also known as Electro Dermal Screening, EDS. EAV testing does not use needles. The testing involves taking simple, painless, electronic readings on the skin surface of the hands and feet. These various points have been found to measure relative status of the corresponding organs. The test results are immediate showing what in your body is out of balance.

EAV testing allows the practitioner to test vitamins, minerals, enzymes, herbs, homeopathic remedies and even food for their balancing effect on the body. The guesswork of nutritional programs is eliminated. Knowing which foods put your system in a state of imbalance will aid in weight loss, digestion issues, foggy head, poor energy, and much more. Rebalance your body and see how much better you'll feel.

EAV Testing can be helpful for:

  • ADD and ADHD
  • Adrenal problems
  • Allergies
  • Arthritis
  • Autoimmune
  • Bloating / gas
  • Candida
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Digestion Issues
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Gallbladder problems
  • Hyperthyroid
  • Hypothyroid
  • IBS
  • Liver problems
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Parasites
  • Sinusitis

The testing takes approximately 90 minutes and includes food sensitivity testing plus the results of the meridian balance testing. Depending on what is found, there is usually some change or modification required on the part of the client. These changes can include a nutritional program, supplements and other lifestyle modifications.

For most people, how they look effects how they feel about themselves. And in Chinese culture, it is not considered a vanity to want to present your best face to the world. Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial renewal acupuncture or acupuncture facelift, treats the whole person with an emphasis on the face and abdomen. Our treatments however, are not only focused on outer beauty, but also harmonizing inner health, strength and vitality. So not only will you start looking healthier, but you will feel healthier on the inside. During a cosmetic acupuncture treatment, clients are first asked to identify the areas of their face and/or body that they are concerned about. A diagram is used to help facilitate choice of specific areas. During the treatment, the face is first cleansed and nourished with herbal toner and then painless, tiny needles are inserted around the areas of concern. Acupuncture points on the body are also used to achieve a complete treatment of renewal. Cosmetic acupuncture works by increasing circulation of qi and blood throughout the face which stimulates collagen production, increases elasticity, lessens the appearance of fine wrinkles, tightens the skin, and produces a radiant, healthy glow. Cosmetic Acupuncture is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs of aging that is less expensive, healthier and safer than modern procedures. It is virtually risk free with none of the side effects associated with surgery such as scarring, prolonged bruising or numbness.

What are the effects of Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture helps to improve muscle tone and dermal contraction and tightness, especially in the face and neck. With increased collagen production and dispersal, skin becomes firm & wrinkles fill. Metabolism is improved through these treatments, which leads to reducing or eliminating puffiness around the eyes and face. Hormones can be regulated through acupuncture; conditions such as acne and dry skin can be improved, and hot flashes or red blotchiness decreased. Healthy and even facial coloring can be restored along with tightening of the pores. By reducing the impact of stress on your face, habitual expressions are transformed, resulting in a younger, more peaceful, and less tired looking face. Because cosmetic acupuncture treatments balance the flow of Qi in the body, you will also experience a feeling of relaxation during, and of increasing health after the treatment.

Treatment Protocol

For optimal results, treatments are scheduled twice a week for 7-10 weeks (14-20 treatments), but more may be needed depending on your skin condition.
Each treatment takes approximately 1 hour.

Results can last from 3 to 5 years. After the initial treatment regimen, a maintenance schedule can be tailored to your needs

Cupping is a safe, non-invasive, and is used by practitioners of Chinese medicine to treat conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, and congestion; arthritis; gastrointestinal disorders; muscle and joint pain and spasms; depression and reduce swelling. Fleshy sites on the body, such as the back and stomach (and, to a lesser extent, the arms and legs), are the generally used sites for treatment.

Cups are typically made of strong glass. A flame from a lighter or a burning cotton ball is placed in an upside-down cup. When the oxygen in the cup is burned off, oxygen is removed which creates a vacuum. The cup is then placed directly on the skin at the area of need. Drawing up the skin is believed to open up the skin's pores, which helps to stimulate the flow of blood, balances and realigns the flow of qi, breaks up obstructions, and creates an avenue for toxins to be drawn out of the body.

Depending on the condition being treated, the cups will be left in place from 5 to 10 minutes. Several cups may be placed on a patient's body at the same time. Some practitioners will also apply small amounts of medicated oils or herbal oils to the skin just before the cupping procedure, which lets them move the cups up and down particular acupuncture points or meridians after they have been applied. Cupping is generally a painless procedure.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of moxa or moxa wool from Artemisia Vulgaris (ai ye, or mugwort), a type of Chrysanthemum. The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of traditional Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, expel cold and warm the meridians, and maintain general health. Moxibustion is the application of heat to acupuncture points or areas of the body using moxa to treat and prevent health conditions.

The burning of moxa is believed to. In Western medicine, moxibustion has successfully been used to turn breech babies into a normal head-down position prior to childbirth. A landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that up to 75% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the Bladder meridian. Other studies have shown that moxibustion increases the movement of the fetus in pregnant women, and may reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramps when used in conjunction with traditional acupuncture.

Other functions of moxa include treating arthritis, extreme sweating, diarrhea, prolapse rectum and uterus, menstrual cramps, water retention, edema, impotence, abdominal pain and stomach aches.

Gua Sha is healing technique and maybe used in conjunction with acupuncture and/or herbal medicine. Gua means to rub or friction. Sha is the term used to describe congestion of blood at the surface of the body. The method of applying Gua Sha involves the layering of medicated or herbal oil on the skin. When friction is applied with a Gua Sha tool in repeated even strokes, the sha surfaces. The color and rate of fading are both diagnostic and prognostic indicators.

Gua Sha treatments are not painful. As the body is scraped it pushes a build-up of fluid ahead of it, and after it passes, it leaves an indention or vacuum behind which draws toxic fluid out to the surface of the skin from deep within the tissue. The toxic fluid (Sha), floods to the surface and can be seen in small red, deep purple or green pools of blood, it is also often hot on the area that the toxic heat is extracted. Red spots are an indication that toxins are being released. Where the area is deep purple the blood is old and extremely stagnant. A dark green discoloration is a sign that stagnant blood and toxic "qi" are being released from the system. The sha disappears totally in two to four days. The color and rate of fading are both diagnostic and prognostic indicators.

The benefits of Gua Sha are numerous. It moves stuck blood, promoting normal circulation to the muscles, tissues, and organs directly beneath the surface treated. Gua Sha is used to treat as well as prevent common cold, flu, bronchitis, asthma, as well as any chronic disorder involving pain, congestion of Qi and Blood. The patient experiences immediate changes in stiffness, pain and mobility. Normal metabolic processes are restored by the movement of fluids as nutrients are carried to the tissues and metabolic wastes are carried away.

Tui Na is somewhat similar to massage. The difference lays where Tui Na uses rhythmic compression along energy channels of the body, as well as a variety of techniques that directly affects the flow of energy by holding and pressing the body at acupressure points. The intent of Tui Na is specifically therapeutic than the simple relaxation massage.

One of Tui Na's advantages over simple massage is its ability to focus on specific problems, especially chronic pain associated with the muscles, joints, and skeletal system. It's especially effective for joint pain (such as arthritis), sciatica, muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck, and shoulders. It also helps chronic conditions such as insomnia, constipation, headaches (including migraines), and the tension associated with stress.

Tui Na does not simply work on the muscles, bones, and joints. It works with the energy of the body at a deeper level. As the practitioner senses the client's body with her hands, she is able to assess the distribution of energy and affect its flow. Tui Na is designed to prevent problems, not just correct them. By keeping the body's energy in balance, health is maintained. This is true not just for physical health, but for mental and emotional well-being as well.

    "We squander health
    In search of wealth;
We scheme and toil, and save,
    Then squander wealth

    We live and boast of what we own;
We die . . . and only get a stone."
